  • "Gallant"

    Yep, Gallant.

Ben and I have this little "prompt-a-day" thing going and my word for today was obviously, gallant.
Just a little fun thing to keep my drawing skills slightly honed.

  • Well, it's official

    I'M ENGAGED!!!
To the best man in the whole entire world!

Ben asked me at 10:30pm on May 20th in the sculpture garden at the Walker to marry him
    and...
I immediately burst into tears and said "Of course of course! Yes yes yes!" (or something close... with more blubbering)

I also am blessed with having a fiance' who actually knows me and is my best friend.  He chose the best ring I could even ask for without even needing to consult me about it.  He just knew.  It's a solid white gold tree branch band with twi custom carved birds, and a pearl embedded in their nest.  So beautiful!

    More later!

  • Hello hello!

Oh my gosh, I've been so busy... again

I graduated!  Life is great, I'm done with school, got a design job and came back from the dreariest of weekends in New York last weekend.

I'm feeling some excitement in the air too.  Something just might be coming.

If you want to see what I've been up to, I do a daily pattern with the company that I work with, Paper Bicycle.
Go to my blog to check it out, plus my final project in all of its glory!
    Here's a little taste :)

  • I'm alive!

    ... sort of.

Things are wrapping up and I have only three more days left of college classes.
Then I'm done for good, which is absolutely amazing.

Typically I think I would be pretty sad, nostalgic, scared of what the future may bring, but
I can safely say now that I'm excited.

My senior show is up in the main gallery (picture will be provided eventually) and
I'm fine tuning my portfolio and resume for future ventures.

Here are some little things I have been doing lately:

    Indeed, life has been good.

Here are even some of my senior project images. (meaning my favorite ones)

    There you have it.

These basically have been what have been consuming my life the past several months!
I also won some more awards, but that's for another post.

    More soon!

    Love,

    Mary

  • Oh, it gets better...

I just found out that that through the NY Society of Illustrators Competition,
I won a $1,000 scholarship for my work.  Today has been pretty damn amazing!

I am seriously so lucky and blessed this year.
My final year at MCAD is also my most productive and successful.

From this competition, my work will be put in one of the largest and well known design annuals in the US,
which is amazing, because that's one of the best ways to get work after school.

    Aside from that I have:

-Secured a job after school and work part-time now...
    doing what I love.

-Had my work shown in the Star Tribune

-Got into Society of Illustrators LA - award

-Got into Society of Illustrators NY - award and SCHOLARSHIP

-Getting work shown in the MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ILLUSTRATION
    Which is just freaking phenomenal

    -Graduating in May

    - Potentially being able to see my work in the Museum of American Illustration and
going to the awards ceremony which is scheduled the DAY before my graduation in NY
and then flying straight back to Minneapolis to GRADUATE.

-Going to New York for trend research and trade show Surtex

-Going to Nashville to tag along to a meeting with PB

-CABIN, which we decided not to sell (a whole other story)

-Moving out of my house and either back home or into an apartment.

    I love my life.

    Love,

    Mary
