  • Hey guys!

It's been a while!  Things have been really busy, much to the key of working a full-time job, planning a wedding (save the dates are done and out the door, at long last!) and doing freelance work.
At the moment I literally wrapped up the initial illustrations for a children's book about "Letters from the tooth Fairy" which has basically sucked any ounce of free time that I even thought I had out of my life.  Here are a few samples of the work:

Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to go to the gym again after a week and a half long hiatus due to being so busy.   I was taking this truly fantastic boot camp circuit training class on Saturdays until the instructor decided to leave LA Fitness.  I was literally excited to go to the class every Saturday, even though it meant a week of sore muscles, and general lethargy.  Now I have nothing for my Saturdays except for trying to figure out how to do on my own what we did, and up to the caliber of the class.

Anyway, I haven't written a blog post in forever.  I can say that it is generally very therapeutic to write all of this down for once.

Hope you guys are well and happy.

  • I'm a big kid now.

Sitting around for the evening, just got my new health insurance card, and had another really great day at work.
My favorite thing ever is going to work now. Aside from Ben, he's pretty great.  Seriously, amazing.

Now I'm listening to serial killer interviews and am wearing about three scarves.
Ted Bundy sounds eerily competent.  Because he was eerily competent.

    Also..

This is why I only ever ever ever ever use Faber-Castell pens.

    Lalala, life is good.

  • Today has truly been fantastic.

It was my first day as  Junior Designer at Mill City Press and it was seriously awesome.
The bus wasn't so bad, and I got my GoTo Pass, which will make life a little easier I think.

I also did a few sketches a little while ago that I was pretty proud of, finished off with digital colors.

Fun stuff!  I hope to have more soon. I just want to get ahead with my freelance stuff and focus on this awesome job and
then having time to draw in my free time.

Also, I'm now officially surrendering to the whole "early to bed early to rise" thing.

Didn't really think I'd be able to wake up at 5:30am for anything ever again, and I really don't mind doing it now. :)

    More later!

  • I can eat again!  (sort of)

and I start my job tomorrow!
I'll be taking the bus to downtown Mpls everyday which is pretty strange.  I've never really had to take the bus.
I guess it's time to learn something new.

But, yes, being able to eat again is amazing!
I mean, I'm still in a hella lot of pain, but whatever.  I can eat pasta and rice mostly.

    That's all for now?

    That was a weird update.

    Love,

  • So yesterday my day was comprised of:

    and
A JOB.  A FULL TIME JOB!!!  A FULL TIME DESIGN JOB FOR MILL CITY PRESS!!!
Yes, I'm thoroughly pleased about that.
However, the entire left side of my jaw in incredibly sore and swollen due to that god-forsaken root canal.
What I've learned lately is that a a lot of bad has to happen before any good does.
I think that my life and blessings definitely ebb and flowequally in my life, and I'm totally fine with that.
    Love,
    Mary

  • Well Hi!

I was up until about 4 am last night because I was totally sucked into viking-ifying myself and my Boo.

  • Hi!

Here are a couple of little doodles.

Lately, I've found myself in a situation that I couldn't put into words until my Mother said this phrase.  "You've got a lot of irons in the fire".

This is true.  And not literally, of course.   I didn't suddenly take up blacksmithing while I was away.
